Winner of Seedstars Shanghai selected
Seedstars World is the only global startup competition in emerging markets and fast growing startup scenes. The competition is based in Geneva, Switzerland and supported by the venture builder Seedstars SA. After a first successful edition in 2013 across 20 cities, this year’s edition is expanded massively to more than 30 countries. Regional winners are invited back to Geneva to pitch at the final event for an equity investment of up to USD 500,000 in February, 2015. The regional events feature up to 20 startups, which must prove their value in six minutes of pitching time and withstand the questions from a local jury of experts and a Seedstars World representative.
Seedstars Shanghai took place on September 29, at Troubadour Bistro with fourteen participating startups. swissnex China was one of the local partners, why the Pascal Marmier, the CEO, was also part of the deciding jury with other directors and Nellie Horn, the Organizer of SSW. Regarding the large crowd, that attended the event, it was a big success. The many good pitches by the participants made the decision very hard for the jury, why they took quite some time to decide.
Selected as the regional winning team, which is actually from the Philippines, was Rumarocket. A human resources management platform, which aims at predicting the best matches for IT jobs, based on skills and personality tests. The startup recently relocated to China, were they were offered a place in Chinaccelerator, one of the top local accelerators.The second place went to the Care Voice, a “Foursquare or Yelp for healthcare”. The app, available in China and India so far, provides the users with the possibility to browse hospitals, doctors and drugs and see previous users’ ratings and comments. The 3rd place went to Suzhou Green Expo, an app which enhances expo and exhibition visits, offering an electronic briefcase of content management, context management, as well as digital and mobile assistance.
