Roundtable: Sino-Swiss Free Trade Agreement
The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed between Switzerland and China in 2013 is among the most ambitious trade deals signed by both countries to date. During the state visit to Switzerland of President Xi Jinping in 2017, both governments have agreed to upgrade the FTA agreement.
This Roundtable, organized by SwissCham in cooperation with the Swiss Center Shanghai, and to be held at swissnex China, will discuss the key findings from the Sino-Swiss Free Trade Agreement – 2018 Academic Evaluation Report published by a team of academics of the Sino-Swiss Competence Center (SSCC) from the University of St.Gallen (HSG), the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE), and Nanjing University. Through open dialogue, we hope to relay to the authorities the main challenges that Swiss companies encounter with the FTA at the operational level.
It is far from easy to file a successful FTA application. However, with a practical and solution-oriented approach, we firmly believe that clarity can be provided on what goes wrong and how to fix it. Therefore, this seminar offers each Swiss company the opportunity to present their most pressing challenges to the panel for discussion and troubleshoot.
