Do you want to apply your skills to tackle a humanitarian issue? Do you want to contribute to solving a challenge with a potentially large impact? Do you want to work in an international and interdisciplinary team?
As a part of China Hardware Innovation Camp CHIC, we are pleased to announce the first international one-day humanitarian hackathon will be held under the auspices of the Global Humanitarian Lab and in partnership with the Red Cross International (ICRC), Shenzhen Open Innovation Lab (SZOIL) and swissnex China. Various partners including Beijing University, Tsinghua University, Shenzhen University, HAX, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
The hackathon aims to apply the crowdsourcing and rapid prototyping approach to the humanitarian field. Makers, engineers, designers and managers interested in tackling real humanitarian issues are welcome to participate.
Part I 5pm-9pm, July 22
On Friday evening you will choose one of the four challenges proposed by the ICRC and form teams with competences in engineering, design and management. You will then connect with ICRC experts in the humanitarian field based in Geneva.
Part II 9am-8pm, July 23
On Saturday you will work in an interdisciplinary team to develop your solutions to the challenge. At the end of the day you will present your prototype (sketch, use case scenario, rendering, etc.). You are more than welcome to join the party afterwards.
