swissnex China lecture: “Hunting for the Higgs Boson and more at the CERN Large Hadron Collider LHC“
swissnex China is delighted to invite you to the swissnex China Lecture on Cosmology and recent developments at the European Organization for Nuclear Research, CERN, Geneva, Switzerland.
The hunt for the Higgs Boson continues!
Scientists say, they are getting closer to providing the existence of Higgs Boson that supplies mass to matter and would complete Albert Einstein's theory of the universe. Several experimental groups are hot on the trail of this elusive subatomic particle which is thought to explain the origins of particle mass.
Dr. Peter Jenni, former Spokesperson ATLAS Collaboration shared his insights on the collaboration between China and Switzerland, and his experiences and ongoing projects, related to the search of the Higgs Boson.
Experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are currently running, and are collecting as much data as possible. Tests are running at highest energies ever reached in a laboratory, to even make searches beyond the standard model (BSM). Significant results have been already obtained, which would establish the postulated electro-weak breaking mechanism in the standard model SM, as well as for BSM physics like Supersimmetry (SUSY), extra dimensions, quark compositeness and others. The SUSY searches particularly could reveal a candidate for the Dark Matter in the Universe! We are all looking at exciting times and maybe soon some breaking news from CERN...
