Future Cities Conference, Shanghai World Expo

— filed under:

Sino-Swiss Science, industry and Government in Dialogue

Since May 1 the World Expo in Shanghai, embracing the theme “Better City, Better Life”, attracts ten thousands of people every day. Switzerland is represented with a Pavilion featuring rural-urban interaction and focusing on the topics of air, water, mobility and sustainable construction (information on the Swiss contribution is available at www.swisspavilion.ch).

ETH Zurich, the Leading House for science and technology cooperation  between Switzerland and China,  Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), a leading academic institution and comprehensive research and development center in natural science, technological science and high-tech innovation in China, and swissnex China, Switzerland’s outpost for Science, Technology and Culture,  jointly organize an exhibition from September 13 to 30 and a conference from September 15 to 17, 2010 at the Swiss pavilion.  These activities shall encourage an in-depth approach dealing with the themes of the Expo and the Swiss Pavilion. Innovative projects will demonstrate scientific contributions  tackling one of the major challenges of mankind: to make the rapidly growing megacities sustainable.
