Sino Swiss Science & Technology Cooperation Program
The SSSTC program is a governmental framework between China and Switzerland. It aims to encourage and strengthen individual contacts by building a multi-level research cooperation between institutions, research groups as well as individuals.
The goals for the action phase of SSSTC are to:
Strengthen the academic ties between Switzerland and China through research and academic collaborations
Increase the visibility of Swiss universities and research institutions in China through faculty and student exchange
Encourage long term institutional cooperation between Swiss and Chinese education and research institutions

Stepping Stone Symposia Call closed
March 1, 2012
The Sino Swiss Science and Technology Program (SSSTC) is launching the "Stepping Stone Symposia" to encourage and pave way for the involvement of industries in the second action phase SSSTC 2013-2016. The "Stepping Stone Symposia" are envisioned to be a series of conferences participated by the most outstanding scientists and relevant industries. The first series aof the conferences will be held from June 20 to 22, 2012 in Switzerland, focusing on Cancer Research and Neurodegenerative Diseases. Joint Research Projects

The Sino Swiss Science and Technology Cooperation (SSSTC) Program is now opening a new call faculty exchange (FE), student exchange (SE), as well as for Institutional Partnership (IP). Interested Swiss and Chinese partners are warmly invited to read into detailed condition for each instrument FE, SE and IP. The application forms can be found on the respective webpages. Researchers from all disciplines are welcome to apply.
The SSSTC Program is launching a joint call with the Swiss national research program Nano-Tera to further promote Swiss innovation in China, in the areas of health, environment and energy. This pilot grant for joint research projects in the above areas will be financed by the Nano-Tera program, and the partners of the joint projects will be administratively supported by the SSSTC program in Switzerland and in China. Partners
Based on the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) which was signed by Switzerland and China for close S&T coopeartion, the SSSTC program has been enjoying the strong support of the governmental S&T agencies in both countries:
• In Switzerland: State Secretariat for Education and Research (SER)
• In China: Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
The SSSTC program is seeking for synergies and support of other Chinese and Swiss ministries, local Chinese S&T authorities, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) as well as Swiss and Chinese private industries.
Funding Instruments
Three funding instruments are designed to cover different need of Swiss and Chinese scientists for initiation or strengthening scientific contact:
• Faculty Exchange and Student Exchange (FE and SE) intended to provide opportunities for first and individual contact
• Institutional Partnership (IP) aims to tighten the links between two research institutes through a long term exchange program
• Joint Research Project (JRP) is designed to build up an in-depth scientific collaboration between scientists of the two countries, in 4 priority areas

Awarded Projects
Several calls for proposal have been launched in Switzerland - China.
