The End of ‘Cheap’ China? The Future of Innovative Manufacturing

As a member of the board of directors of the National Committee on US-China Relations, and member of the academic committee of the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance at Tsinghua University, Edward Steinfeld will share his thoughts about what “innovation” means in a manufacturing-focused economy. The lecture will also focus on how China develops it shift to an innovation-driven economy.

Edward Steinfeld is currently holding the positions of Professor, MIT Department of Political Science, Professor (by courtesy), MIT Sloan School of Management, Director, MIT-China Program (MISTI-China) and Co-Director, China Energy Group, MIT Industrial Performance Center. He is the author of numerous articles (academic/non-academic), for example for the World Development, The Far Eastern Economic Review, The Washington Post and The South China Morning Post.
