PuffTron - the story of a small red monitor
On February 3, 2009 swissnex China got its own PuffTron. Human activity produces cycles of air pollution and regeneration. PuffTron measures and shares these cycles for a better understanding what makes indoor air quality change. Thinking about indoor air quality this way allows to anticipate changes before they occur and modify actions accordingly.
The monitor sends its measurements to the website www.blackcloud.org/graph 24hours, 7 days a week. swissnex China is hosting a PuffTron to see what raises air pollution levels in its office and see what we can do to lower them. A long term goal of the BlackCloud project is to make a high-resolution global real-time air pollution map.
There are currently monitors up and running in San Francisco, Ivine, Mountain View and Pasadena (all US, California). Further monitors are planned in San Diego and other swissnex locations.
For futher information on the project and its initiators please visit www.blackcloud.org

The PuffTron monitor is hosted at swissnex China in the office room
of Pro Helvetia.
