Cumulus, the International Association of Art, Design and Media Colleges, will have its next autumn Conference at the College of Design & Innovation of Tongji University, Shanghai (7 – 10 September 2010). The Conference will explore where and how the young generation of designers can improve our environment and live in a creative way, through their talents and responsibility.
Founded in 1990, Cumulus will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year and will open a special exhibition (8 September – 8 October 2010) during the conference series. As an official partner of the Cumulus 2010 Conference and 20th Anniversary Exhibition, swissnex China will present different Swiss Design exhibitions, such as prize winning products awarded by Design Preis Schweiz, as well as Timber, HoerRaum and Grätzel solar cell's. By participating at the Cumulus Conference and Exhibition, swissnex China aims to provide the visitors with an inside view on Swiss excellence in design. Furthermore, the objective is to link students and professors, not only between China and Switzerland, but also on a more international level.
Design from Switzerland is mostly classified as precise, functional or technically ingenious. Furthermore, Switzerland has a longstanding tradition in industrial design. Every two years, the association ‘Design Prize Switzerland’, awards the most recent industrial designs. Top quality and innovative works are nominated and awarded and will be exposed during the Cumulus 20th Anniversary Exhibition.
