BBQ LECTURES focusing art, science and society will soon bring the second topic Design & Architecture into discussion. Dr. Meret Ernst will concentrate on Swiss Design, its position inbetween the more functional and the more formal oriented design traditions in Europe, and its specific solutions to the problems mentioned. Prof. WU Siegfried Zhiqiang will give his own opinion on question ‘Format follows function or the market? Design today, serving harmonious society and social innovation, right?’

SPEAKERS:
Dr. Meret Ernst
Dr. Meret Ernst finished her studies in Art History, Film Studies and Communication Studies with a Ph D in Art history at Zurich University. After two years of curating one of the big exhibitions for the National Swiss Exhibition Expo.02 in 2002, she started as editor at Hochparterre, the leading Swiss magazine for architecture and design, where she is currently responsible for design and culture. Furthermore, she is co-director of Swiss Design Association, the professional association of Swiss designer.
Prof. Wu Zhiqiang

Prof. Wu, Zhiqiang received his Dr.-Ing degree in 1996 from Technical University of Berlin, Germany. He is now Assistant President of Tongji University, and Chief Planner of World Expo 2010 Shanghai China. He also serves as Co-Chair of International Steering Committee of World Planning Schools Congress (WPSC), Permanent member of UNESCO-UIA World Architectural Education Council, Director of Planning Education Steering Council of China, Vice President of Urban Planning Society of China, etc.
