Swissnex China, Switzerland's outpost for science, technology and culture in China, is an initiative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Similar institutions are located in Boston, San Francisco and Singapore. Our goal is to fully exploit the potential of cooperation between Switzerland and the respective host countries in the fields of higher education, research, technology, innovation and culture and to promote Switzerland as a leading country in those domains.

As Switzerland’s outposts for Sciences, Technology and Culture in China, swissnex Shanghai has been striving toimprove its knowledge about Chinese education and research systems.

The 39+ Chinese University Database project aims to provide a comprehensive tool to allow Swiss scientists and university faculties to get a first and general idea of a Chinese university or a research institute.

The 39+ Chinese University Database provides information on the Chinese university's interest, size, particularities, program offers, national ranking, relative education and research strength, etc.. All the data are extracted from officially recognized sources, often in Chinese language. An Internet based, interactive user-interface was developed in order to facilitate the consultation by end users.
